Coronavirus special arrangements

Following the changes in Government COVID-19 regulations and guidelines on 19 July 2021, we have made some adjustments to runs – details below.

Runs

Our runs take place on Tuesdays (5K) and Thursdays (10K) but with additional measures in place. These include pre-booking, not joining a run if you have any of the symptoms below, and following any requirements deemed necessary. Runs leave from various locations – details will be posted the day before the run on the members’ Facebook group or you can contact us for details.

Health

You should only join a run if you are fit and well and have not had any of the known COVID-19 symptoms in the previous 10 days.

The main symptoms identified by the NHS and by others such as the Zoe Covid
Symptom Study are:

  • Fever
  • Persistent cough
  • Loss of smell
  • Headache
  • Runny nose
  • Sneezing
  • Sore throat

You should also not join a run if the last 10 days you have tested positive for COVID-19,  you have had close contact with someone who has COVID-19, or you have been told to self-isolate.

Booking a run

You can book a run here.

Before a run

Please wash your hands before leaving home. You may wish to have hand sanitiser with you.

During a run

There is no longer a legal requirement to socially distance. However, England Athletics say that “maintaining social distance between one another has been proven to reduce the likelihood of spreading COVID-19” and advise that we consider this when planning and taking part in runs. Also, people face different risk levels and some may wish to maintain a more cautious approach in relation to social distancing. Therefore, when running with the club, please be aware of your proximity to other Dragons and members of the public and do all you can to minimise risk. If you are a member and are concerned about social distancing around club runs and want to discuss ways we can help, just get in touch.

Please follow any instructions from your run director.

After a run

At the end of the run, please make sure the run leader knows you have finished.

If, within 48 hours of attending a run, you develop any of the symptoms detailed in the health section above or test positive for COVID-19, you must inform the club immediately. We will contact the other runners to inform them of this.

Feedback and further information

The Club has two COVID-19 Officers. If you have any feedback you’d like to share with us or have any questions about the measures we have in place, please just contact us.
