Book a run (Coronavirus special arrangements)

Due to the current coronavirus pandemic, the club has special arrangements in place to make sure we comply with Government and England Athletics guidelines and that we do all we can to keep everyone safe.

Runs

Our Thursday night runs and our Wednesday track sessions remain suspended. However, we are holding our Tuesday 5K runs but with reduced numbers and with additional measures in place. These include pre-booking, running in smaller groups, each with a maximum of 6 people including a group leader, and following social distancing requirements.

Health

You should only join a run if you are fit and well and have not had any of the known COVID-19 symptoms in the previous 10 days. The main symptoms are:

  • a new continuous cough
  • a temperature above 37.8C
  • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste.

Other possible symptoms include one or all of the following where they can’t be attributed to another cause:

  • shortness of breath
  • a sore throat
  • muscle aches and/or joint pain
  • fatigue
  • headache
  • vomiting
  • stomach ache and diarrhoea
  • running or stuffy nose
  • welts on the skin or rashes.

You should also not join a run if you have been in close contact with someone in the previous 14 days who has COVID-19, has COVID-19 symptoms or has been told to self-isolate or if you have been told to self-isolate.

Booking a run

Club members can book a run here.

Given limited places we can only accept bookings from Dragons members (if you were a paid-up member in 2019/20, the deadline for renewing for 2020/21 has been extended by England Athletics to 31 August 2020 so you will continue to be a member until then, and after if you renew by then). If you aren’t a member, you can join Dragons here.

Please only book a run for yourself, not on behalf of another person. Please be aware that places are limited so only book a place if you know you can make the run. If your circumstances change and you can’t join a run you have booked, please cancel the booking here or by contacting us.

When you book a run you will have a choice of groups running different times (for example over 30 minutes). The times relate to the time you want to do for this run, not your normal race time. If the group you want to join is full and there is space in other groups, book a place and then contact us and we will try and arrange a swap.

By booking onto a run and providing your contact details you agree that we may contact you should anyone in the group subsequently develop COVID-19 symptoms or test positive.

Before a run

Please wash your hands before leaving home. You may wish to have hand sanitiser with you.

When arriving at the meeting point please join your allocated group at the time given. The name of your group leader is available here.

During a run

During the run, please follow social distancing guidelines with other members of your group and members of the public.  Please be courteous to and considerate of other people with whom we are sharing public space.  You may wish to carry a face covering with you to be used if you are unable to maintain 2 metres distance from others at any point.

Please follow any instructions from your group leader.

After a run

At the end of the run, please maintain social distancing. Wait for your group leader to finish but do not wait for the other groups to finish. If you need to leave before your group leader finishes then let another group runner know so they can inform the group leader.

If, within 14 days of attending a run, you develop any of the symptoms detailed in the health section above or test positive for COVID-19, you must inform the club immediately. We will contact the other runners to inform them of this.
