Our club parkrun championship is a great way to join other Dragons in parkruns across the region. The 2021 championship will start once Parkrun UK deems it safe to run parkruns again.
There are three championship trophies up for grabs – for the age/gender graded winner, the groups winner and the most improved runner. The latest championship tables can be viewed here.
How it works
The Club parkrun championship runs from January to December. To take part in the championship you must
- be a member of Dragons at the time of the parkrun
- be registered with Parkrun UK
- have indicated in your Parkrun registration details that you are a member of Dragons Running Club (Sale) (you can update your details in your Parkrun profile)
- have a time registered in the results for that race.
You must complete at least five runs to qualify for the championships.
For the age/gender graded trophy we use parkrun age grading (which takes into account age and gender rather than just time). Your average age grading over your best 5 runs will give you your parkrun championship score. The winner is the person with the highest age grading average over five runs.
The groups trophy uses the same criteria as for the club championship.
There will also be a prize for the most improved runner. You will be given an age grading base score (based on your highest age grading score from the previous year. If you haven’t done a parkrun before your base score will be based on your average age grading from your first five parkruns this year). Your highest age grading score from the current year’s club parkrun championship runs will then be compared to your base score to give you an overall increase/decrease figure. The winner of the most improved runner prize is the person with the highest increase figure.
